Itinerary

Day 1: ISTANBUL
Upon arrival, proceed to Istanbul city tour. Visit the Sultan Ahmet Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque which boasts a unique feature of 6 minarets. View its glorious interiors and distinctive blue tiles where it got its second name. Next, view the remains of the Hippodrome of Constantinople, which consists of 3 monumental columns and a fountain. This is where chariot races took place in the past and was the most important square in the Byzantine era. Then, visit St Sophia (Hagia Sophia), a former Eastern Orthodox Church converted to a mosque after the conquest of the Ottomans and a must-see attraction because of its religious and architectural significance. Next, visit the Topkapi Palace, once the seat of the Ottoman Empire and the first palace in Istanbul. Presently, it is a palace museum with a wide collection of porcelain, antiques, holy relics and other treasures. Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 2: CANAKKALE - Troia
Drive to the ancient city of Troy down to where the Dardanelles strait connects the Aegean Sea. It is the site of theTrojan War between the Greeks and the Trojans and known for the great love of Helen and Paris. The excavations are still to be continued at this site for it is on a small mound with a history of thousands of years. We will visit this ancient city and the infamous wooden horse used in the Hollywood movie starring Brad Pitt in the city center. Overnight in Edremit/Ayvalık.

Day 3: KUSADASI - Ephesus - the Virgin Mary House
Set off for Selcuk village and explore the ancient city of Ephesus, one of the world’s most outstanding archaeological sites with still on-going excavations. Walk along the main street to view the awesome structures such as the Library of Celsius, Hadrian Temple, Marble Street and Agoras. Ephesus is also one of the 7 Churches of Revelation and holds the House of the Virgin Mary. Now an official worship place, it is the house where the Virgin Mary had spent her last years. The Virgin Mary and St John were said to have lived in Ephesus and died there. Overnight in Kusadası.

Day 4: PAMUKKALE - Hierapolis - Ancient Pool
Pick up from your hotel in Kusadası and depart for Pamukkale. Here you can enjoy the calcium terraces of Pamukkale (Cotton Castle) and the ruins of the ancient site of Hierapolis We will also see the Ancient Cleopatra Pool where you will have time to take a swim in the thermal pool with columns inside while gazing at the Apollo Temple and the Theater. It is named after Cleopatra for it was known that she would visit frequently to bathe here. The city was a healing center even back in the BC times. The water from the natural springs have been scientifically confirmed that it cures some diseases under certain conditions and with hygienic use. Walk around this natural phenomenon and have the option of walking in the waters of the natural terraces. It will be a very nice experience to visit the spectacular calcium terraces where you will be able to take magnificent photos which are even better than the ones on postcards and on internet and head on to Laodicea7 the city’s significance is due to its Christian History as it was one of the “Seven Churches of Revelation”. In the site, the theatre, agora, recently excavated temple is worth to see as well as the recently excavated church which is one of the oldest churches in this region. Day 5: ANTALYA
Drive to Antalya, a city where the sea, sun, beach, forest, and coves are made it an attractive location to live throughout history. Many civilizations live and left a historical treasure behind them. Kaleici is the Old City that you can trace Hellenistic, the Roman, the Byzantine, the Seljuk, and the Ottoman periods. Hadrian’s Gate was built in the name of Roman Emperor Hadrian, Yivli Minaret Complex, Gıyaseddin Keyhusrev Madrasah, Selçuklu Madrasah, Zincirkıran Turbah, Nigar Hatun Turbah, Karatay Madrasa, Historical Marina are pieces of this treasure that will be visited during the tour. Duden Waterfall will be the next stop to relax and be enchanted by its stunning view. Overnight in Antalya.

Day 6: KONYA (Mevlana Museum) & CAPPADOCIA
Today, travel to Konya to visit the museum of 13th century philosopher Celaleddin Rumi Mevlana, which used to be the cloister for Mevlevi Dervishes. Mevlana was a philosopher and mystic of Islam, but not a Muslim of the orthodox type. His doctrine advocates unlimited tolerance, positive reasoning, goodness, charity and awareness through love. To him and to his disciples all religions are more or less the truth. Looking with the same eye on Jewish, Christian and Islam alike, his peaceful and tolerant teaching has appealed to men of all sects and creeds. Proceed on to Cappadocia via Sultanhanı, a 13th century caravanserai built for the merchants on the Silk Road. Overnight in Cappadocia.

Day 7: CAPPADOCIA
Be enchanted by the Underground City of Kaymakli, once a place of refuge for 15000 Christians. Witness the ancient bedrooms, church, meeting hall and food storage rooms in this eight-storey city connected by 30km of corridors and passageways. Following this, a visit to the Pigeon Valley where there are rock cut holes for the pigeons to leave their droppings. The droppings are still collected today to use as a fertilizer for the grapeyards. Now, let us have a visit to the fascinating frescoed rock churches and chapels at Goreme Open-Air Museum, known to be first place to start the monasterial life. Photo stops will be made at Uchisar “castle, a fantasy-land of strange and wonderful works of man and nature. Then, proceed to Avanos Pottery Village set on the banks of the Kizilirmak (Red River) where the clay is taken from the banks of the river. The Hittites were known to have started this art by using the clay of the Red River and the same technique is still used today with the locals to make the fine pottery. Finally, don't miss out on the chance to look at some Turkish turquoise. The name of the stone was given by Marco Polo due to its beautiful colors, which meant the color of the Turks. Overnight in Cappadocia.

Day 9: ANKARA - Ataturk Mausoleum
Drive pass the picturesque Salt Lake, the 2nd largest lake in Turkey and arrive to Ankara –the capital of Turkey. Our Ankara sightseeing highlights include the magnificent Ataturk Mausoleum, the final resting place of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the first president of Turkey and who was regarded as the father of modern Turkey. Overnight in Ankara.

Day 10: ISTANBUL
Drive to Istanbul and start the Istanbul half day city tour which covers the 500-year-old Grand Bazaar, a maze of over 4,000 stalls and shops selling leather goods, jewelers, handicrafts, ceramics, turkish coffee and other local products. Next, start the Bosphorous Cruise trip.
